Project Description:
Idaho State University, in partnership with Idaho AEYC, was awarded the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) renewal grant. The PDG B-5 renewal grant is designed to help states build upon initial year activities while considering the changing needs of children and families created by the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will bring resources to Idaho that will empower parents, early childhood educators, and communities to offer a mixed delivery system that includes private and public approaches. There are six focal areas of the grant including: 1) update of a comprehensive needs assessment of the early childhood care and education system 2) update of a statewide strategic plan to integrate systems to promote optimal growth and opportunities for young children 3) efforts to maximize parent and family engagement in the B-5 system, 4) support for early childhood care and education workforce 5) support for program quality improvement, and 6) support for the development and expansion of local Early Learning Collaboratives to enhance quality and expand access to existing and new program. The Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities will develop and administer the PDG B-5 Program Performance and Evaluation Plan. The evaluation plan enhances grant implementation by monitoring the services delivered, coordination across service partners, and the overall effectiveness of each focal area.
