Predictors of Days at Home for Children with Mechanical Ventilator Assistance.
Project Description:
This career development award proposes to study children with invasive home
mechanical ventilation (HMV) through a mixed methods approach. Prolonged
hospitalizations during sensitive epochs of childhood thwart developmental
opportunities and impact on long term disability. This proposed project examines
child, family, and healthcare system factors which mitigate long hospitalizations
in order to maximize participation of children with HMV in family, education and
community life activities and to prevent the severest forms of disability.
