Project Description:
The University of Kansas, over the course of this 5-year proposal, has the goal of extending and maintaining the 40-year longitudinal record of fiscal effort, revenue, spending, and programmatic trends in publicly funded intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) services and supports in the states and nationwide. We propose engaging in this work through five primary objectives: 1) collection and analysis of IDD financial and programmatic data from the 50 states and District of Columbia for FYs 2018 - 2022; 2) completion of special studies to investigate contemporary topics impacting the IDD community; 3) collaborations with partners at multiple levels - specifically collaborations with our Project Advisory Committee (PAC), representatives from the Residential Information Systems and Employment Status of People with IDD Projects; as well as representatives from federal agencies and other nontraditional stakeholders; 4) completion of formative and summative evaluations; and 5) production, development, and dissemination of results in a variety of formats (including technical assistance) for culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Intended Project outcomes include: 1) states, researchers, policymakers, families and people with IDD can use study findings to promote data-informed advocacy efforts leading to improved access to community-based services, and 2) findings contribute to changes in systems, policy, and practice at local, state, and national levels. Expected products include webinars and other presentations, two monographs, reports, journal articles, data briefs, an interactive website, a common codebook, and a joint national report on IDD services and supports with the other two AIDD-funded data projects.
