Project Description:
AT Champions is an effort to engage young people with disabilities to learn about activism, disability history, and local resources to help spread the word and empower their communities. ● AT Champions is a 5-month long program. This program is designed to empower young adults and build connections with young disabled activists in the Mid-Atlantic region. ● The purpose and goal of the program is to develop and implement an outreach strategy that will improve authentic engagement with assistive technology by all disabled people in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. ● Goals of program: ○ Improve awareness and engagement with assistive technology for people with disabilities in the state ○ Improve access to AT ○ Create opportunities for young adult AT users to advocate for themselves and educate people with disabilities within the state, about assistive technology ● AT Champions is a program in conjunction/ collaboration with Mid-Atlantic ADA ● This program really highlights assistive technology and how it impacts people's lives, their quality of life and helps maintain independence
