Project Description:
The grant from the ACL/AOD to University of Arkansas/Partners for Inclusive Communities (Partners) is for the ongoing administration and operation of the University Center of Excellence for Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) for the state of Arkansas. Partners has served as the UCEDD in Arkansas since 1990. This federal grant is renewed on a five- year cycle via a non-competing continuation application, with annual budgets submitted each year. The overall goal is for Partners to collaborate with the other members of the DD Network, the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities and Disability Rights Arkansas, as well as other key stakeholders, will improve the opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to experience full participation and belonging in their communities. The goals of this grant are tied to 4 core functions: (1) to prepare future health-care professionals to respond to the needs of people with disabilities, (2) to provide training and assistance to people with disabilities, service providers, policy makers and others in areas associated with disabilities, (3) to conduct pertinent research, and (4) to share information with interested parties.
