Project Description:
Teaming for Early Childhood Inclusion (TECI) Project Goal is to provide early childhood professionals with quality training, coaching and resources to enable successful inclusion of children with disabilities. This project is designed to build capacity within the early childhood / child care network for successful inclusion of children with disabilities throughout the early childhood education system in Arkansas. The training content and approach is guided by input from a stakeholders group including representation from administrators, teachers, parents, licensing specialists and content experts. Four primary objectives of the project are 1) increase the knowledge of DCCECE staff and contractors regarding the mandate for inclusion, the benefits from young children, and specific disability content; 2) increase capacity of child care providers to successfully include children with disabilities; 3) provide information on the inclusion project to staff of primary diagnostic sites to increase referrals to child care providers, and 4) create a process for replicating the activities of this proposal through development of teams of local experts and model demonstration sites (programs who have completed the training and welcome others to visit and experience the inclusion stories.
