Project Description:
This proposal will complete a Park and Recreation System Master Plan Update for the City of Gary, Indiana based on updating the Gary 2009-2013 Park and Recreation System Master Plan. Proposal Goal The goal of the proposed project is to build Gary's capacity in managing park areas for quality-of-life, community health, and long-term stewardship. Investments in parks, recreation, and public spaces have been demonstrated to significantly impact the resident enjoyment, health indicators, and economic development in communities. To achieve this goal, the Eppley Institute is proposing to complete a park and recreation system master plan. Outcomes: Completion of this project as proposed will increase the City of Gary's capacity for: • eligibility for State of Indiana park and trail related grant funding, • engagement with local communities and points of interest with the benefit of enhancing quality of place and economic development, and, • improving the livability of this Indiana community
