Project Description:
TTAP applied for the Alternative Financing (AF) grant in 2019 requesting $700,000. We received a Notice of Award for $269,757 8/20/2020. Initially, the TTAP Director worked with ACL personnel, University Office of Special Programs, and the Director of the Texas Center for Disability Studies to develop an AF program that will best meet the needs of Texans who have disabilities and those who are aging with in the $269,757 budget restraints. Then 9/1/2020, ACL fully funded the AF program to 699,999. Since that time, TTAP continued to work with UT to establish how the University could support this grant. January 2022, UT finally drew the funds down and TTAP is just now beginning to administer the grant. The goal of this grant is to support Texans with disabilities and those who are aging in purchasing AT devices and services with a low-interest loan fund, and to provide 3D printed and fabricated items at cost plus a small percentage to maintain equipment and materials.
