Educare and Beyond 2022-2023
Project Description:
The Educare Implementation Study is part of a national project that documents the features of Educare Schools. The purpose of the study is to support the mission of Educare, which is a research-based program that prepares young at-risk children for school and which services as a platform for quality early learning programming. The project involves a 12-month research project to be undertaken by a partnership between the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine, with the University of Maine as lead institution. Staff will collect data at Educare Central Maine and at child care centers and family child care homes. Well known assessments, observations, and interview items are used, including the Environmental Rating Scales, Classroom Assessment Scoring Scale, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Preschool Language Scales, Bracken School Readiness Assessment, and Woodcock Johnson III Applied Problems sub-tests in full-day full-year settings. Results will be shared with teacher, administrators, and other stakeholders and local data is uploaded to the national evaluation center at FPG at UNC Chapel Hill, which uses data to describe the progress children and families are making in Educare Schools.
