COVID-19 Technology - Combating Social Isolation through Assistive Technology

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2023
Contact Information:
Project Description:
This project enables individuals with developmental disabilities to acquire technologies to combat social isolation. In close collaboration with the Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council and its Technology Workgroup, this project affords people with developmental disabilities access to evaluation services to help them discover the tools that effectively meet their needs, and then distributes selected items to individuals as we do in several of our other equipment distribution programs. By acquiring the necessary technology, those individuals are able to connect with family and friends as well as community pursuits of their choosing. The Assistive Technology Specialists at the Delaware Assistive Technology Initiatives Assistive Technology Resource Centers and contracted professionals conduct the evaluations and collaborate with those served in selecting and procuring the identified devices.
