CDD - Improving the Health of New Mexicans Enrolled in Medicaid Through Evidence-Based Interventions
Project Description:
Under an agreement with the New Mexico Human Services Department and the Department of Health, the Center receives Medicaid match funds in order to expand services that cannot be covered under existing Medicaid-related contracts. Non-federal funds are matched to expand current training, technical assistance and services. These services improve the health care of Medicaid-enrolled individuals statewide through: 1) training and technical assistance for Medicaid providers in identifying children with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders and in how to use evidence-based and/or best practice interventions; 2) case management or care coordination for specific populations and 3) outreach and referral. The project focuses on six specific areas: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder; Autism Spectrum Disorder; Medically Fragile children and adults who also have a DD; early identification and intervention for infants and children with environmental risks for developmental; early identification and intervention for infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities; and adults with intellectual disabilities receiving home and community based services through Medicaid waivers.
