Project Description:
The overall goal of this project is to develop a state-of-the-art, widely accessible, boater education program for Everglades National Parks marine waters (including Florida Bay, the Wilderness Waterway and Ten-Thousand Islands). The overall goal of this project is to develop a state-of-the-art, widely accessible, boater education program for Everglades National Parks marine waters (including Florida Bay, the Wilderness Waterway and Ten-Thousand Islands).The objectives for the Everglades Boater Education Program are: Increases powerboaters understanding of the challenges of navigating the parks marine waters and the importance of its marine resources. Provides knowledge of laws, regulations and policies that affect marine resources and visitor use of these resources. Improves likelihood of proper boat operation by park visitors that results in enhanced protection of marine resources. Improves the quality of a wide range of visitor experiences sought in the parks marine environments by providing information on boater etiquette and rules-of-the-water. Increases boating safety practices to reduce accidents and behavior that could impact marine life, including threatened and endangered species, and human safety. Engages users through an interactive online learning environment.
