Project Description:
The Early Learning Center is a program of the Human Development Center (HDC). The ELC serves children from 6 weeks to four years of age from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and includes children with disabilities. Goals (1) provide inclusive high quality early care and education for families (2) provide interdisciplinary training and clinical experiences for students at LSU Health Sciences Center and other universities in Greater New Orleans (3) provide an inclusive model demonstration site that families, educators, and therapists can visit to observe and learn about recommended practices for young children The ELC implements the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos and the Creative Curriculum for Preschool. Teaching Strategies Gold is used for progress monitoring. The Classroom Assessment Scoring System is used for professional development and continuous improvement.
