NH State Youth Treatment Workforce Development
Project Description:
The goal of this project is to design a comprehensive State Youth Treatment-Planning (SYT-P) Workforce Development Plan that will expand and improve prevention and treatment services to youth (ages 12 through 17) and transitional aged youth (18 through 25 years) experiencing substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders (SUD/COD), statewide. The lead agency for this project will be the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire in collaboration with the NH Departments of Health and Human Services and Education, the Community Health Institute (CHI), regional public health and integrated delivery networks, SUD and mental health providers, child and family advocacy organizations, YouthMOVE NH, and other key stakeholders, to develop an environmental scan/resource map, needs assessment, gap analysis, and workforce development plan. The project staff will use research-based frameworks, technology, and implementation science to design and propose workforce development structures and activities that will result in increased implementation of research-based screening, assessment, treatment and recovery services for youth and transitional age youth throughout New Hampshire. The planning process will be rigorously monitored and evaluated, leading to the development of a plan that is most likely to be implemented across a variety of training and implementation contexts and settings.
