Project Description:
Utah State University's (USU) Workplace Support Training provides quality employment supports training for both supported employment 34 CFR 363 and customized employment models 34 CFR 361.5(c)(11), as outlined as a service provision in the Rehabilitation Act. Given the technical and individualized nature of service delivery in supported and customized employment, community rehabilitation providers, vocational rehabilitation counselors, transition teachers, and others need access to direct training on these services. Training should be empirically driven and reflects a philosophy that all individuals who want to work, regardless of severity of disability, are provided with the necessary support to achieve integrated competitive employment outcomes. The project will continue to directly address the training requirements established by the Department of Workforce Services-Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (DWS-USOR). Specifically, USU will continue to provide and expand the Workplace Supports (WPS) training to CRPs. Over the past 3 years, USU has provided the WPS and training 316 individuals on workplace supports curriculum, provided over 300 hours of technical assistance, conducted a community of practice for 170 individuals, and hosted topical webinars for over 485 participants. The training will be designed to offer a Workplace Supports credential for job coaches employed by community rehabilitation providers.
