Omaha Public Schools - P.T. and O.T. Services
Project Description:
The Munroe Meyer Institute (MMI) and the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) have maintained a contractual arrangement for the provision of all occupational therapy and physical therapy services, including supervision of such services, for the District’s eligible students since 2000. MMI has contracted to provide educational OT & PT services to eligible students in the District since 1984.
OPS provides occupational therapy services to approximately 1,000 students and physical therapy services to approximately 750 students during a school year. The occupational and physical therapy services are provided to each student through an Individual Education Plan/Individual Family Service Plan (“IEP/IFSPâ€) meeting process, and range from semi-annual observation and reporting to one hour per week of direct therapy. The services are provided in family homes, in the community and schools throughout the district.
Occupational and physical therapy services include educational diagnostic and evaluative services as well as consultative, integrated and direct therapy to students, all in accordance with District’s policies and procedures, and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The latter include, but are not limited to, Nebraska Department of Education Rule 51, Regulations and Standards for Special Education Programs.
