Project Description:
MOMS is designed to strengthen Montana's capacity to address disparities in maternal health and improve maternal health outcomes, including the prevention and reduction of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity. MOMS establishes a state-focused Maternal Health Task Force, improves state-level data surveillance on maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and promotes and executes innovation in maternal health service delivery. The RIIC serves as the primary evaluator assessing the implementation of these program features: A. Montana Center for Excellence in Maternal Health (MCEMH) that houses the Maternal Health Task Force and Montana Maternal Mortality Review Committee (CDC grant funding pending); B. Align and elevate state-level maternal mortality and morbidity surveillance systems and disseminate best clinical practices in Maternal Health; and, C. Billings Clinic oversees a demonstration project to test innovations in telemedicine for prenatal, postpartum, and maternal health care for rural communities.
