Access to COVID-19 Vaccines (ACL)
Project Description:
Persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by both morbidity and mortality. In the District of Columbia these disparities were overwhelming borne by persons with IDD who are African American and from other racial and ethnic groups other than non-Hispanic White. A GUCEDD led project focused in collaboration with IDD stakeholders to: (1) identify COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, direct support professionals, and communities in which they live in the District of Columbia; and (2) create culturally and linguistically appropriate public messaging tailored to the address vaccine hesitancies and promote vaccine confidence.
