Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health
Project Description:
The Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health (CEBH) at the University's Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) provides training, technical assistance, and fidelity monitoring to entities responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based practices for individuals with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and co-occurring conditions in Iowa. The CEBH began in April 2022 and targets three evidence-based practices, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Individual & Placement Supports (IPS), and Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). The CEBH is currently funded by a competitive grant through the Iowa Department of Human Services. The UCEDD is serving as the administrative home for the project, providing overall project management and coordination, working in collaboration with the Iowa Consortium for Substance Abuse Research and Evaluation to develop and implement evidence-based practices. The Consortium is taking the lead on a statewide environmental scan and related gap analysis work.
The UCEDD is also partnering with the University of Iowa Department of Psychiatry and with Shelter House, a homeless services agency. The UI Department of Psychiatry will bring expertise in ACT to the Center of Excellence, and Shelter House will support PSH programming. CDD will lead IPS grant activities.
