Oral Health Training of Community Caregivers
Project Description:
1. Oral health home care is lacking for individuals who live in group homes. The amount of oral pathology for the IDD population is greater than the general population due to issues with home care, diet, and access to dental services. We are creating videos to demonstrate proper home care techniques for individuals who are unable to brush their own teeth in addition to addressing dietary issues that may increase oral disease.
2. Goal: improve home care and diet of individuals with IDD through educating home care workers
3. We are going to try to use individuals with disabilities as the actors in the video. We are also planning on shooting the videos in realistic settings to show staff how to do it at their facility.
4. Improvement in oral hygiene and oral pathology of individuals with IDD.
