MOMS: GLOVER: Exploring the use of Recovery Doulas to Improve Maternal and Infant Health Outcomes in Montana
Project Description:
Objective: Develop the evidence-base for use of recovery doulas to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Montana
The MOMS grant housed at Billings Clinic, has partnered with OneHealth and Tree of Life Doula Services to offer trainings to professionals around the state.
To achieve our objective we will:
Explore and identify existing interventions and research that include doulas, with a focus on recovery doulas, and holistic and wrap-around service models of care, and their applicability/feasibility for use in Montana.
Assess recovery needs and barriers during pregnancy, childbirth, and the post-partum period, and explore the role and scope of recovery doulas through semi-structured qualitative interviews with women in recovery (n = 10-15), healthcare and service providers (n=5-10), women who have used doulas (n=5-10), and doulas (n=10-15).
