Project Description:
Project SIMPLE responds to the absolute priority to establish, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve a model to enhance social, emotional, and school-based mental health (SBMH) services and supports for adolescents with disabilities in three Oregon high schools. The mental health and academic needs of students with disabilities, including those with significant needs, will be supported through six key project goals: (1) establish universal screening and progress monitoring processes, (2) implement effective, tiered interventions; (3) enhanced communication and coordination among schools, community providers, and families; (4) implement ongoing formative and summative evaluation, (5) dissemination of results to local, state, and national leaders, and (6) effective project management. The successful implementation of these goals will demonstrate the promise of a set of evidence-based practices delivered under real-world conditions through a coordinated approach that involves educators, families, and community mental health providers.
