Project

EI+ASD Bridging Barriers to Intervention Access for Waitlisted Children with ASD and Their Families

Project Description:
This research project is creating a randomized control trial to learn how to improve outcomes for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are waitlisted for diagnostic evaluation or intervention services. Children and families often struggle to access these critical services, resulting in significant delays to ASD diagnosis and early intervention onset and support. This can lead to health disparities, especially for those living in rural areas and diverse communities. The project seeks to address these disparities by using a telehealth-enabled early diagnostic and intervention package to evaluate waitlisted children with ASD. After an autism diagnosis, caregivers deliver the Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Intervention with remote support from interventionists.
