Project Description:
Partners for Inclusive Communities (Partners) has been providing training to early childhood professionals to encourage inclusion and promote greater understanding of diversity/cultural competency since 2003 through the Welcome the Children (WTC) project. It is funded by the AR Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education, with pass through funding from federal Child Care Development Funds (CCDF). The goal of Welcome the Children is to provide early childhood professionals with quality training, coaching and resources for supportive approaches to cultural diversity, inclusion, and communication. Along with training on cultural diversity, inclusion and communication, WTC provides the Arkansas Bilingual Interpreter Credential in Education (ABICE) Training Course for oral language interpreters who work in educational settings that serve children birth through 12th grade. This credential is recognized by both early childhood and K-12 education in AR. Welcome the Children is divided into two funding sources effective FY21 with a portion funded by the Department of Human Services and the other by the Department of Education.
