Project Description:
Indiana University Indiana Institute on Disability and Community (IIDC) will provide subject matter expertise to the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) in the form of facilitation, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of information as it relates to the National Core Indicators (NCI). IIDC is a federally funded University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service (UCEDDs). UCEDDs are a national network of university affiliates with expertise in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) that serve as the liaison between academia and the community. As a UCEDD, IIDC's core purpose is to conduct research, evaluation, and public policy analysis and disseminate the information. IIDC has vast experience in identifying issues, finding solutions, and advancing research related to the needs of individuals with I/DD and their families. IIDC will work with DDRS, the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services (BDDS), and the Bureau of Quality Improvement Services (BQIS) to ensure the states ongoing assessment and progress monitoring approach is integrated into the states data-informed decision making and program improvement approach. To do this, the IIDC will support the Bureaus by way of timely, custom analyses to respond directly to the Bureaus data and information needs. IIDC will assist in the development of new survey questions tailored to HCBS waiver performance metrics and the Living Well grant. IIDC will manage the entire survey process and ensure that people with I/DD and their family members are actively trained on and involved in the data collection process, as a way to both increase response rates via peer surveyors and increase the diversity of the survey team. IIDC will conduct thorough data analysis, synthesis the information, and provide the state evidenced based information that will be in concert with national standards and detail the states progress towards the state's identified outcomes. The dissemination procedures will also be customized to ensure they meet both the needs of the Bureaus and other stakeholder groups.
