Project Description:
The Kentucky Supported Employment Training Project (SETP) offers education and continuing professional development to employment specialists and other interested people across Kentucky. Supported employment is designed to promote personalized employment opportunities for people with disabilities when they need support to discover personal interests and contributions, find or negotiate a job that fits things people like to do and do well, become established as valued employees, and pursue job advancements. Our Supported Employment Core Training Series consists of three sessions that teach new employment specialists how to do just that. It also includes relevant state funding and documentation expectations and information on the impact of wages on public benefits. All professionals in Kentucky providing supported employment are required to attend this Core Training Series. SETP also offer the SE Leadership Series, a 4 session series covering: Social Role Valorization Theory, Systematic Instruction, Discovery and Customized Job Development. Certifications in Customized Employment, through Marc Gold & Associates, are offered through this series. The SETP also offer additional training opportunities on a variety of topics pertaining to disability & employment and provides Technical Assistance upon request. TA may be offered to Employment Specialists, businesses, family members and people with disabilities seeking employment or anyone else interested.
