Center:
Fiscal Year:
2022
Contact Information:
Project Description:
The Directory of Community Resources (DCR) was created to provide an up-to-date statewide resource for disability supports. The goal is to provide a statewide directory searchable by geographic location and keywords that is accessible and current. Partnership with state agencies and organizations is also a goal as this will enhance the community use as well as maintenance. Users are able to search via zip code, key word, and organization name. The resources come up in list format and can be sorted by name or distance. Benefits of this database include currency of resources, ability to access anywhere online, and organizational collaboration. FY 2022 Objectives: 1. Resources are continually reviewed and added to The Directory of Community Resources (DCR), an online, directory of over 2,000 disability-related supports in Texas. 2. Every 6 months all listings in the directory are contacted to verify the existing information. Follow-up is conducted on those listings for which there is no response through website checking. ----- Project REDDy Inclusion ---- The REsources for Disasters and Disability (REDDy) Directory is a dynamic online disaster recovery directory addressing the resources and support needs of individuals with disabilities affected by Hurricane Harvey. It uses the DCR as an online template and is embedded in the DRC. The primary aim of the REDDy Directory is to provide case managers (who often have limited knowledge of disability-related needs) with up-to-date information and contact information on disability-related resources available throughout Texas. In addition, the REDDy Directory is designed to assist long-term recovery committees, disability-related organizations, disaster-related organizations, and individuals with disabilities in locating resources and services provided to Hurricane Harvey survivors. REDDy is an online searchable guide of disability-related resources, services, and information designed for individuals to search by zip code, key word (e.g. durable medical equipment), or resource type (e.g. Health and Medical Services). The two objectives of the REDDy Directory are to a) provide the REDDy Directory information for people with disabilities and their families who are searching on their own for such resources; and b) to increase knowledge that disability-related organizations have about organizations providing disaster-related resources. Two criteria must be met for inclusion in the REDDy Directory: a) provide resources or services for individuals with disabilities, and b) these resources or services are provided for Hurricane Harvey survivors. In addition, organizations that provided food, clothing, or other general needs the resources/services were added to the Directory as individuals with disabilities affected by Hurricane Harvey needed access to these resources/services as well. ----- COVID-19 Directory Inclusion ---- The COVID-19 REDDy Directory is an online directory listing COVID-19 resources and supports needed by individuals with disabilities. The COVID-19 REDDy Directory provides an online searchable guide of disability-related resources, services, and information that can be searched by zip code, keyword, or resource type. It uses the DCR as an online template and is embedded in the DRC. The primary aim of the COVID REDDy Directory is to a) provide COVID-19 related information for people with disabilities and their families searching for resources; and b) to increase COVID-19 resources knowledge for organizations and case managers with up-to-date information and contact information on disability-related resources available throughout Texas.
