COVID-19 Technology - Combating Social Isolation through AssistiveTechnology

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2021
Contact Information:
Project Description:
This project will enable individuals with developmental disabilities to acquire technologies to combat social isolation. In close collaboration with the Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council and its Technology Workgroup, this project will afford people with developmental disabilities access to evaluation services to help them discover the tools that effectively meet their needs, and then distribute selected items to individuals as we do in several of our other equipment distribution programs. By acquiring the necessary technology, those individuals will be able to connect with family and friends as well as community pursuits of their choosing. The Assistive Technology Specialists at the three Delaware Assistive Technology Initiatives Assistive Technology Resource Centers will conduct the evaluations and collaborate with those served in selecting and procuring the identified devices.
