Turtle Mountain Staff Training
Project Description:
To provide a training/professional development to Turtle Mountain Elementary School staff to address the following areas:
The Role of the Classroom Teacher in Providing Effective Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: This training will address the most effective accommodations for children and youth with disabilities in the general education classroom. There will be information regarding instruction regarding academic, behavioral, and health care accommodations. Finally, legal issues relating to education students with disabilities.
Special Education for General Educators; Key Concepts and Best Practices: This training will cover the key roles and responsibilities of the general education teacher in the special education process under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), including referral for evaluation, evaluation, eligibility determination, development and implementation of the IEP, IEP process monitoring, and the IEP annual review.
