Project Description:
This project seeks to raise awareness among older individuals about the ways in which assistive (AT) technology can enable them to be successfully employed. It builds upon the Delaware Assistive Technology Initiatives recent collaboration with the Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, in which we enhanced our equipment inventory statewide with items that support older individuals in engaging successfully with activities of self-care, employment, home management, and leisure pursuits.
In this project, we will develop training sessions that focus on the ways that AT can benefit individuals with vision loss, hearing loss, compromised fine motor function, and organizational and memory challenges. The sessions will introduce participants to the affordances available through AT, and will offer ample opportunities for hands-on exploration of equipment.
