Community Engagement: Occupation-based community wellness groups
Project Description:
Occupational Therapy students participate in various community group activities to learn about non-traditional aspects of healthcare, while also gaining skills with program development. The variety of groups has increased over the years and requires more support to meet the demands of the community. Group activities follow an occupation-based model, along with wellness and healthy living theory.
Objectives:
1.To mentor 3rd year occupational therapy students in non-traditional therapy strategies, program development, and
community collaboration.
2.To support the needs of the community with occupational therapy services where these
services are not available through the healthcare system.
