Improving inclusion and access at the SUCEDD

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2021
Contact Information:
Project Description:
The Sonoran UCEDD is committed to better serve Arizona's increasingly diverse population through collaborations and programming that facilitate diversity, equity and inclusion. This includes increasing the engagement of underrepresented populations among our center's staff, faculty and trainees, and ensuring that our programming, services, research and outreach/information dissemination efforts reflect values and practices of cultural and linguistic competency. In May 2017, the Sonoran UCEDD created a Cultural and Linguistic Competence Workgroup comprised of UCEDD faculty/staff, a trainee and a CAC member. The workgroup assessed the status of our center's cultural and linguistic competence (CLC) utilizing the Georgetown National Center for Cultural Competency's Cultural and Linguistic Competence Assessment for Disability Organizations tool. With the data from the self-assessment, the workgroup made recommendations for improving CLC and continues to implement those recommendations.
