Project Description:
The purpose of the project is to develop and disseminate a needs assessment to identify priority needs and access to health care for young children and their families in Mississippi during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, questions will focus on well child visits, vaccination, developmental screening, telehealth and referrals to specialists. Stakeholders will include the Mississippi Department of Health-Maternal and Child Health, Mississippi Thrive, the Institute for Disability Studies and family members of children and youth with special health care needs. An asynchronous video series will be developed based on the outcome of the needs assessment to assist families in navigating the identified barriers. Further, a network of partners will be developed to coordinate evaluation and virtual screening efforts in the state. Lastly, a virtual campaign will be created to promote family led developmental monitoring utilizing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Learn the Signs Act Early tracking app and checklists.
