Project Description:
UMKC-IHD will conduct a 1-year project to develop an online, interactive flowchart and educational materials which explain the complex system of reporting, investigating, and prosecuting crimes against vulnerable adults, including but not limited to those with I/DD, and the development of a plan for distribution.
IHD will develop the flowchart through an iterative process of review with a group of key informants and stakeholders.
Phase One: Initial interviews of the reporting/investigation/prosecution entities involved and the preliminary conceptualization and design of a flowchart.
Phase Two: -3 meetings facilitated by IHD with a group of key informants who can confirm the flow of the system and make suggested edits to the drafted chart. This may be the VTF broadly or a subgroup of VTF members. This group will assess content and functionality of the interactive chart. Between each meeting, the IHD team will make edits to the content and design to present at the next meeting. This iterative process will happen several times to ensure that the chart accurately depicts the reporting and criminal justice processes.
Phase 3: Final presentation of flowchart and development of accompanying training and educational materials. UMKC-IHD will present the final product to the Victimization Task Force in May 2021. In addition, the UMKC-IHD team will present a dissemination plan and materials that allow the flowchart and its content to be incorporated into staff trainings, advocacy and systems navigation trainings, transition programs, and other settings.
