1. Need - Ongoing data are needed to monitor progress in providing high-quality LTSS to adults with IDD. Updated data are needed about the prevalence of IDD in adults, and about the characteristics and needs of adults with IDD in the general population. 2. Goals - Conduct studies of factors associated with outcomes as measured in the National Core Indicators - Improve the technical characteristics of the National Core Indicators Instrument - Develop an operational definition of IDD for adults in the National Health Interview Survey - Describe the prevalence, characteristics, and needs of adults with IDD in the noninstitutionalized US population. 3. Features - The NCI is the largest data set in the US providing data on outcomes of Medicaid funded LTSS for adults with IDD. The 2017-2018 NHIS provides a unique opportunity to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the 6 American Community Survey Disability Questions for identifying adults with IDD. 4. Benefits - Improved technical characteristics of the NCI, updated prevalence estimates for adults with IDD, recommendations about the appropriate use of the 6 ACS disability questions in research on adults with IDD.
