Project Description:
The Health Professional Support Program for Children with Congenital ZIKV Infection is a Pacific Basin (Guam, Northern Mariana's, and American Samoa) project funded through the University of Southern California (USC) Children's Hospital of LA LEND. The MCH funded project provided a workforce development and interdisciplinary clinical consultation to health professionals caring for children with ZIKV. The following goals and objectives are: Goal 1: Tele-education-Training to provide interdisciplinary care. Objectives 1.1) Training needs and distance learning curriculum; and 1.2) Continuing education. Goal 2: Tele-consultation - Interdisciplinary consultation services. Objectives 2.1) Case conference; and 2.2) Technical assistance. Goal 3: Telehealth - Interdisciplinary specialty care. Objectives 3.1) Infrastructure; and 3.2) Credentialing/Contracting. Goal 4: Collaboration/systems change - Create interdisciplinary ZIKV training networks. Objectives 4.1) National Collaborations; 4.2) LEND ZIKV Network; and 4.3) CA-LEND HPS Community Advisory Board. Unusual features is the teleconsultation from healthcare professionals experiencing a pacific grasp of remote and cultural barriers in accessing services. Expected benefits is the engagement of trainees is problem solving systemic issues in response to limited or no access services.
