Project Description:
This grant seeks to combine an IPE experience with server-user feedback (patient/caregivers) to enhance medical, NP, and PA students awareness, comfort, knowledge of the complex care needed and how interprofessional (IP) collaboration can improve health outcomes for persons with IDD as part of patient and family centered care, required health care providers' curriculum across the United States. This IPE experience focuses on patient and family centered care, required for health care providers' curriculum for all students, and will teach future providers the benefits of collaborative care across disciplines, including the patient and family/caregiver. This will be a new clinical experience for students at MUSC coordinated with the Associate Deans for Education ( communication has occurred already). It is not a compulsory course experience, it is an elective and each student will receive a certificate of completion for their CV.
