Project Description:
The Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities (MHDD) National Training Center (NTC) aims to build community capacity to support individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental illness to live in the community. The MHDD NTC is implemented through a collaboration of three UCEDDs at the University of Kentucky (lead), Utah State University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage. Its activities in the first year include an extensive review of the literature for the state of the science in mental health care for people with IDD-MI, a survey of the UCEDD/LEND Network to identify existing resources in the five core functions, and a national needs assessment to help ascertain the level of access to mental health care at the national and state/territory levels. The MHDD NTC will develop and facilitate access to online and in-person training, ECHO clinics, and other resources to help professionals and communities build capacity to address the needs of this population.
