Project Description:
The Core grant provides the infrastructure funding for the UCEDD. Required activities include conducting all administrative tasks outlined in the program, including data collection and reporting as required. Activities that are specifically related to targeted groups of people with disabilties include the following:
Increasing capacity in the state to screen, diagnose, and intervene with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities through providing pre-service training;
Improving community inclusion for persons with autism and other developmental disabilities by providing community training, technical assistance, and community-based services;
Adding to the knowledge base for improving the lives of persons with autism and other developmental disabilities by conducting research and publishing the findings;
Adding to the knowledge-base of state providers concerning autism and other developmental disabilities by disseminating information about research findings and established evidence-based practices; and
Increasing community integration for persons with disabilities by promoting the development of an advocacy network of self-advocates and family members.
