Project Description:
This is a 18 credit undergraduate minor in "Disability Studies". The minor provides students with foundational knowledge of the rapidly emerging field of disability studies. Students will have the opportunity to: 1) explore and critically examine the historical and legal treatment of people with disabilities; 2) acquire an awareness and understanding of the role of disability in today's society; 3) examine their own personal attitudes towards disability; 4) realize that disability is part of human diversity; and 5) appreciate the concepts of acceptance, inclusion, integration, independence and productivity as these apply to individuals with disabilties and society at large.
