Project Description:
UH is the contracted evaluator of the Hawaii No Wrong Door (NWD) 2015-2018 project. NWD is a federal, collaborative effort of the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). NWD supports state efforts to streamline access to Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS). The project aims to provide training and technical assistance that results in an increase in person-centered practices, consumer / practitioner / service provider engagement, and streamlined inter-agency information sharing.
A larger segment of the population needs long term support services (LTSS) than ever before. Whether due to aging, disability, or other factors, the demand for services and supports has increased, as has the use of public funds for such services (Medicaid and
Medicare, for example). Because of the increasing burden on the government to pay for these services, federal initiatives have emerged to identify cost-effective strategies to service provision that are client-friendly (person-centered) and efficient (streamlined).
Leads and staff in agencies involved in LTSS are key to meeting the goal of service provision being client-friendly and efficient. This evaluation will (1) obtain input and feedback from agencies regarding NWD activities and initiatives and (2) help agencies analyze and summarize their client survey data.
