Nutrition Needs Assessment CHLA Family Resource Center
Project Description:
CHLA provides families and the community access to the Family Resource Center (FRC) with a goal to improve the health of our children, families and community, and to promote access to supports and services that result in improved patient outcomes. The FRC has agreed to partner with Dr. Cary Kreutzer, from the CHLA grant-funded project, CA Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Program, to conduct a needs assessment that defines parents knowledge of nutrition, nutrition practices and families access to, and use of, community nutrition resources. This information will enable the FRC to develop targeted nutrition education and better facilitate access to community resources. Improving parent nutrition knowledge and enhancing family access to community resources should result in improved health and patient outcomes. This information will also be valuable to hospital-wide programs addressing obesity intervention and prevention providing baseline data of parent nutrition knowledge and use of community resources.
