Project Description:
Behavior support programs are required by state and federal rules for consumers with predicable injurious behaviors. In 2001, the Franklin County Board of DD (FCBDD) contracted with Nisonger Center to provide behavior support services for consumers in the Franklin County, Ohio, area. Nisonger Behavior Support Services in collaboration with the FCBDD day programs and residential providers: (1) train direct care staff on data collection; (2) collect and evaluate data submitted by direct care staff; (3) develop and write a Behavior Support Plan for each consumer for approval by the FCBDD behavior support oversight committees; (4) train and monitor parent, day program and residential staff on behavior support plan implementation and data collection; (5) update FCBDD oversight committees on the success of the plans; and, rewrite plans as necessary to meet the needs of the consumers. Staff includes psychologists, behaviors specialists and graduate students.
