Denver Project "Facing Your Fears"
Project Description:
Participation in a Multi-site Study for Cognitive-Behavioral Treatments with Children with ASD and Anxiety
Beginning Fall 2011, Dr. OKelley will be the UAB site coordinator for a project with Judy Reaven, Ph.D. (Principal Investigator) from University of Colorado Denver/JFK Partners (UCEDD/LEND program), supported by an R33. The purpose of the project is two-fold: (1) to train outpatient clinicians (professionals in psychology) on the Face Your Fears intervention for 8-14 year old children with high-functioning ASD and clinical anxiety, and (2) to develop an optimal training model for learning and delivering this intervention. As such, both faculty and trainees at the UAB LEND will be involved as both participants and researchers in this project. There will be several groups occurring on-site as a clinical service and training opportunity. Further, the research team will be collaborating with clinicians/researchers at The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) and Kennedy Krieger Institute.
