AK TBI Capital Budget (ABIN)
Project Description:
The funds will be used by CHD to conduct a statewide traumatic brain injury (TBI) needs assessment, including capturing current rates of injury in Alaska as well as available services and gaps in services for individuals and family members living with brain injury.
CHD will: 1) Develop a research plan and methodology to conduct a statewide TBI needs assessment; 2) Analyze secondary data to determine current rate of TBI in the State of Alaska (e.g., Trauma Registry data, Anchorage School District, NHAMCS, NHDS, Alaska Screening Tool); 3) Create research tools to collect primary data from specific populations, such as Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Justice, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Agencies, Homeless Connect, Housing First); and 4) Summarize research findings into a final report to be used to inform an annual state plan for TBI in Alaska.
