Child Care Feasibility at Einstein: NYU Wagner Capstone project
Project Description:
A team of 6 Master's students at the NYU Wagner School of Public Service engaged in a year long project to explore the feasibility of on-site child care at Einstein and to identify potential service models and funding. The impetus for the project was to determine if CERC could leverage the availability of its clinical team for an on-site program and to meet the need for child care.
The team engaged in: a) stakeholder interviews, b) conducted a market analysis, and c) performed a needs assessment survey of both UCEDD families using services at our clinical site, and Einstein faculty, staff and students.
The team presented findings to Einstein leadership on April 24, 2019. Survey data were obtained from n=260 Einstein personnel with children <= 5 years and n=26 parents with children <= 5 years. Among Einstein personnel 90% were interested in child care; 10% had a young child with a special need, and 30% were open to an inclusive setting.
