Project Description:
The Kentucky, Utah, and Alaska UCEDDs will work in partnership to achieve the project goal: Establish a sustainable National Training Center (NTC) to build workforce capacity to better serve individuals with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental illness (MI). Project objectives are: 1) Establish a nationally representative Advisory Panel of experts, including individuals with IDD/MI and family members; 2) Create and maintain an NTC website that provides information and resources to multiple audiences, including culturally and linguistically diverse populations; 3) Develop and conduct comprehensive, evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally competent trainings for individuals with IDD, families, direct support professionals, behavioral health workers, healthcare professionals, other community service providers, and UCEDD/LEND trainees, staff, and faculty; 4) Develop and implement an innovative recruitment, marketing and information dissemination plan; 5) Develop and implement a sustainability plan. Anticipated outcomes include: 1) Enhanced collaborative capacity to address the need of individuals with IDD/MI; 2) Increased access to resources related to services and supports for individuals with IDD/MI; 3) Increased capacity of students/professionals to serve individuals with IDD/MI; 4) Increased capacity of individuals with IDD/MI and family members to advocate for better services and supports; 5) Increased capacity of UCEDD/LEND network to serve individuals with IDD/MI; 6) Increased diversity in NTC trainees; 7) Increased sustainability resources to support expansion of NTC beyond the project period. Expected products are NTC website, web-based training modules, training curricula, webinars, marketing materials, evaluation reports, needs assessments, policy briefs, and white papers. All products will be reviewed to ensure adherence to principles of accessibility, inclusion and positive portrayal of people with disabilities.
