Project Description:
The Arizona CHSTRONG project aims to provide a complete understanding of the social and quality of life issues facing adults with CHD, especially in minority and underserved populations. The Arizona population can provide meaningful findings stratified by race as only 56% of our identified CHD population is non-Hispanic white. Population-based surveillance for CHDs across the lifespan is also necessary to determine the type and number of services required to address needs, estimate costs of health services, and assess outcomes that affect the survival of individuals living with CHDs. We will capitalize on our existing information infrastructure to obtain the most recent contact information for individuals identified in the Arizona birth defects system with CHD between 1986 and 1997. Arizona CHSTRONG has extensive experience in longitudinal tracking and survey data collection in pediatric and adult populations. The goal of Arizona CHSTRONG will be accomplished through the following objectives: Objective 1. Identification of Adults with CHD: Identify and create a case list of 2,500 or more live births with CHD in ABDMP from 01/01/1986 to12/31/1997 by Month 1.Objective 2. Tracking of Adults with CHD: Determine the eligibility status of all individuals on the case list including age, vital status and incarceration status by Month 6. Objective 3. Tracing of Adults with CHD: Obtain most current contact information available for at least 75% of eligible individuals beginning Month 1and updating monthly through Month 10. Objective 4. Recruitment of Adults with CHD: Attempt to recruit all individuals on the eligibility list who have current address, telephone, or social media information between months 6 and 11. Objective 5. Authorization to transmit: Receive the appropriate institutional approvals authorizing APS to transmit data to the CDC by Month 4.
