Community Mental Health of Central Michigan HCBS Correction Action Plan Project
Project Description:
Overall project description: To conduct on-site monitoring of the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Correction Action Plans (CAPs) for Community Mental Health of Central Michigan (CMHCM).
Background: The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities Institute (BHDDA) is transitioning its waiver to be compliant with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) HCBS Rule. In 2016-2017, MDHHS/BHDDA conducted a statewide survey of individuals and their providers assessing their compliance with CMS HCBS Rule. The results of these surveys have identified items or circumstances which are not compliant with the CMS HCBS Rule. As a result, MDHHS has required its statewide providers to develop CAPs to address these issues so waiver services are brought into compliance with the CMS HCBS Rule and waiver services are continued. CMHCM is one of forty-six (46) Community Mental Health Service Programs (CMHSP) in Michigan that delivers HCBS waiver services and supports. As a CMHSP, CMHCM is responsible for assuring that its waiver services are compliant with CMS HCBS Rule for individuals within its regional service network. MI-DDI will assist CMHCM to conduct on-site visits if the providers CAP has been implemented to address compliance issues identified in the HCBS provider survey.
