Training Programs and Technical Assistance for Staff
Project Description:
There is a natural linkage between the mission of a UCEDD and that of a state ID/DD agency. When this linkage is represented by collaborative training, technical assistance and policy efforts then the outcomes produced represent a synergy that directly benefits people with intellectual and developmental disabilities while helping both organizations to achieve their goals in a truly meaningful way. The collaboration between the Center for Disability Resources (CDR) and the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SC DDSN), via an extensive and long-term contract, maximizes this potential.
The CDR has 19 people (faculty and staff) who devote part or all of their professional efforts to our collaboration with SC DDSN. The effort includes the following 9 important areas of importance and benefit to people with ID/DD:
- Implementation of the Supports Intensity Scale
- Positive Behavior Supports
- Screening for Medicaid Waiver eligibility
- Employment
- Person-Centered Planning
- Supported Community Living
- Self Advocacy Leadership Development
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Transition
